Hello again!
Welcome to the first edition of our newsletter which you are receiving as we've met or been in contact in the past. I hope you'll find it useful as we share information and resources to keep you up to date with the latest supply chain initiatives and enhancements to DPM.
This first time out we're focussing on S&OP and achieving high service levels, as well as on the recent DPM implementation by BAT that we've been hard at work on. Please take a moment to cast a vote in our survey below as we consider the current importance of the S&OP process.
A coming of age for S&OP?
I was recently explaining to a friend of mine - a former SAP consultant with Cooper & Lybrand many years ago - how DPM feeds the S&OP process. "You're still looking at S&OP?" he asked, "we were talking S&OP 15 years ago!"
So, is S&OP finally coming of age? And if so, what's behind its progress and rise up the agenda?
This report from PRTM identifies the signs that an S&OP process is maturing - moving beyond the creation of a feasible plan to identifying the optimal one.

From Diageo and AMR: How to achieve ‘Near Perfect’ service levels
In a recent web seminar, Diageo's Flavio de Simone (VP of Supply Chain Development) joined with Mark Hillman of AMR and our own Joe Shamir to explain how to achieve very high customer service levels through improved inventory positioning and enhanced demand forecasting.
If you don't have time to listen to the full recording, at 32 minutes Flavio offers some interesting practical insights.

BAT makes DPM part of its European SAP-APO template
I'm delighted to welcome BAT Russia as a new DPM customer (see our recent press release).
At the moment we're spending a good deal of our time in Moscow modelling what is surely the largest country supply chain in the world – one that crosses ELEVEN times zones from the east to the west!
DPM is part of the BAT European template for APO and very interesting for us because, for the first time, we're implementing not before APO (as we are with BP) or after APO (like Colgate) but simultaneously as part of a major APO project. We will be live soon, with more news next time.
I hope you've found some interesting items here and would welcome any comments, topic ideas or feedback to martin.woodward@toolsgroup.com.
Like me you probably receive all kinds of emails, so by targeting the people we know I hope we can keep this newsletter relevant for you.
